Regenerative Medicine (PRP)

Regenerative medicine provides a drug-free, minimally invasive treatment option for acute and chronic orthopedic conditions and soft-tissue injuries.

Platelets are cells that circulate in the blood stream with multiple functions. In addition to hemostasis (clotting of blood) platelets also contain granules that release growth factors resulting in tissue healing. Studies have shown that many of these growth factors promote cartilage health and counteract the cartilage breakdown associated with osteoarthritis.

To make PRP, a sample of blood is obtained from a patient, mixed with an anticoagulant, and processed in a centrifuge. The resulting product is then injected at the site of injury or inflammation.
