Similar to underwater treadmill therapy, hydrotherapy in a pool is a method that uses the physical properties of water - buoyancy, viscosity, and hydrostatic pressure - to provide rehabilitation, recovery, and conditioning. Our 3,000 gallon, heated, in-ground pool offers the option of a paddlewheel current which is the smoothest, deepest, and widest current on the market. Approximately 95 different settings allows for a tailored and progressive treatment or conditioning plan.
Swimming is a low-impact, non-concussive, and non-weight bearing form of exercise. It allows dogs to move in a different manner than they would on land which provides all the same benefits as underwater treadmill therapy but it also allows more focus on core strength. Further, the warm water is not only pain-relieving, it creates an effective environment for stretching as it heats the tissues and improves circulation for healing.
The pool can be used for osteoarthritis patients, neurological conditions, following post-operative orthopedic procedures, overweight patients, and athletes who require conditioning. Swimming can also be used for exercise and enrichment for older pets who have limitations with exercise on land.
